Checklist for Renting

Of course, here is a checklist that we as real estate agents can offer to potential tenants of real estate:

☑ Budget

  • Determine your budget for rent, including ancillary costs such as utilities and internet.

☑ Location

  • Choose the desired location(s) where you would like to live and/or work, considering factors such as proximity to work, schools, public transportation and amenities such as shopping and parks.

☑ Type of object

  • Determine the type of property you are looking for, such as an apartment, house, commercial property or any other type of property, and determine the minimum number of rooms and bathrooms you need, among other things.

☑ Facilities

  • List the amenities you consider important, such as a balcony, garden, parking, laundry room, gym, pool, etc.

☑ Pets

  • Check if pets are allowed in the rental property, if you plan to have pets.

☑ Rental agreement

  • Read the lease agreement carefully before signing and make sure you understand all the terms, including the rent, deposit, notice period and any clauses about maintenance and landlord responsibilities.

☑ Inspection

  • Schedule viewings for properties that meet your criteria and include a checklist to pay attention to important aspects such as the condition of the rental property, amenities, safety and surroundings.

☑ Financial documents

  • Collect the necessary financial documents such as pay stubs, bank statements and IDs to meet the landlord’s requirements.

☑ References

  • Prepare references from previous landlords or employers to demonstrate your reliability as a tenant.

By following this checklist, potential renters can make an informed decision when finding a suitable rental property that meets their needs.
