First real estate seminar in Suriname

Monday, May 27, the first real estate seminar in Suriname will take place at Courtyard Marriott “The industry is facing a big problem,” says initiator of the seminar and owner of Renaissance Realty Omayra Bouterse. Central to the seminar is the situation in the current real estate market in Suriname.
Among other things, insurance issues, the legal aspects and financial side of the industry will be explained by experts.
The negative reports in the media involving surveyors, rogue brokers and even the minister of the Ministry of RGB in recent times has prompted Bouterse to organize the seminar.
“Society is ill-informed. People in different professions, income classes and backgrounds do not know how the real estate business works.”
Bouterse believes consumers should dare to ask questions and do their own research.
“People don’t know what their rights and obligations are but also don’t go out and research and don’t check while it’s very easy to do that with google,” he said. The fact that parcel fraud is widespread and people are still being scammed by lenders and vice versa worries her. Still, she puts her own hand in her pocket, “from the industry, the provision of information is not always that good either.”
Together with co-organizers Finabank, Terzol Vastgoed, Kuhn-Nah Aannemingsbedrijf, Bissesur & Co and Aruna Singh Insurances, all possible questions regarding the purchase or rental of a home, plot or commercial property will be answered.
“We are going to guide them from A to Z,” Bouterse promises.
An important topic during the seminar will be the information that Joel Terzol will share about compliance regulations and the need for bookkeeping.
In this, Bouterse points to the national risk assessment that is to be carried out in Suriname this year, which should lead to reducing the risk of money laundering.
The seminar begins at 18:30 and will last until 22:00.
The event itself is free, however we do ask for a donation of srd 50 for the benefit of Stichting Hoop voor Kinderen.
As an organization, we will work with the leadership of the children’s home to determine where the need lies so that we can make a concrete contribution!
We look forward to seeing you on May 27.
